The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced that the ‘Lebanon in Our Hearts’ campaign, launched by the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities in partnership with QRCS and Qatar Charity, has achieved great success.
QRCS said in a statement, that the campaign witnessed a great turnout from the Qatari community to donate and aid their Lebanese brothers, which reflects the honorable positions of the Qatari people and the State of Qatar, in providing relief and aid to all brotherly and friendly peoples.
The statement added that the past two days witnessed wonderful sympathy and solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese people, and an influx of generous donations by individuals and institutions during live coverage by Qatar TV, Al Rayan Channel, Sout Al Khaleej Radio Channel, Qatar Radio, and the Holy Quran Radio, adding that total donations made during the campaign from all supporters and individuals amounted to QR94,052,940.
The statement added that if the media campaign is over, the humanitarian campaign itself continues to mobilise the largest possible support and implement successive relief interventions to meet the needs of the affected Beirut residents.
According to the set plan, expanded humanitarian projects will be implemented to contain the effects of the disaster, starting with urgent response and early recovery, and this phase will focus on providing foodstuffs and temporary housing for affected families, in addition to strengthening health facilities to help them return to work at full capacity and serve an estimated 55,000 beneficiaries.
In its statement, QRCS stated that it will provide the monthly food needs and relief vouchers for the beneficiary families, as well as repair the damaged homes for the benefit of 25,000 people.
In the long term, efforts will be made to raise the efficiency of health services, build the capacity of medical personnel, and spread community education and awareness for 300,000 people.
QRCS thanked the Qatari community with all its groups and institutions, the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities, Qatar Media Corporation, and Qatar Charity.
