In Qatar, camping is a popular outdoor activity, and the country offers numerous spots for overnight camping. With winter approaching, now is the ideal time to check on your beach chairs and barbecue sets. Many beaches and camp sites in the country are open to the public. However, there are a few that are solely for families or have designated areas for women. The country strictly adheres to cleanliness and sanitary regulations at all times, so make sure to dispose of your waste in the designated sanitary bins on the beach or at home or hotel.
Listed below are some of the best places to camp overnight in Qatar:
1) Inland Sea (Khor Al Adaid) Beach

2) Zekreet Beach
This beach on the tip of the Dukhan Peninsula offers magnificent scenery with limestone rocks, cliffs, and turquoise water and makes for an ideal camping getaway. There are rocks in Zekreet known as Desert Mushrooms. These rocks have developed mushroom-like shapes due to years of whittling winds striking sedimentary rocks. The area offers campers not only beautiful desert views during the day but also stargazing at night. Additionally, you can view Richard Serra's Public Art Installation if you drive further into the area.
3) Sealine Beach
Sealine Beach is a wonderful camping spot for those looking for serenity and beauty. The popular, and often crowded Sealine Beach in Qatar is known for its breathtaking scenery, soft sand and is undoubtedly Qatar's favorite beach. Campers can enjoy several activities such as water sports and dune buggies. A typical evening at the beach includes relaxing by the water and swimming. Moreover, a convenience store and a resort are located nearby within a few kilometers.
4) Fuwairit Beach
Fuwairit Beach is situated on the northeastern coast of Qatar and is known for its soft, white sand, blue waters, and impressive rock formations making it one of the most popular camping spots in Qatar. Families and groups like to spend a night by the sea and end their night by watching the sunrise at the beach. You will need to bring all your supplies, as restaurants or amenities are not within walking distance. In the summer, the beach is closed when Hawksbill turtles lay their eggs. You can also learn kitesurfing at the Fuwairit Kite Beach resort.
5) Dukhan Beach
Dukhan Beach located around 90 km from Doha is a popular camping, picnicking, and fishing spot especially popular among people who live in and around Dukhan. Families can camp with their children on the beach, as the water is not very deep. This beach is known for its secluded spots and pristine waters.
6) Galactic Core Bay
This camping spot was discovered by a group of photographers and quickly became one of the most popular in Qatar. It is one of the best places to observe the galactic core of the Milky Way. Getting to Galactic Core Bay requires risky off-roading for about 30 minutes because it is an isolated area with treacherous paths. There is no Google Maps listing for this location, which is apparently called "Umm-al-Maa" by the locals. It is advisable to travel in groups and in sturdy four-wheel drive vehicles to the location. Around the end of April, Qatar's geographical location will be ideal for capturing the galaxy.
7) Al Ghariya Beach
The beach at Al Ghariya offers more than just camping. You can swim, jet ski, or rent a dune buggy if you desire adventure. You can camp in a separate fenced area away from the beach crowds, ensuring privacy. Picnic huts and showers are available on the beach, and if you want urban comfort in the middle of the night, there is a luxury resort nearby.
8) Maroona Beach
This small, cosy beach has recently gained popularity among weekend crowds for its serene vibes and clear, transparent water. It is advisable to be prepared for camping since there are no facilities and it is easily accessible, and you won't need a 4x4.
9) Umm Bab Beach
There are many family-friendly attractions on Umm Bab Beach, which is also known as Palm Tree Beach. This is a perfect camping location on Qatar's western coast, with kids play areas, BBQ grills, restrooms and a separate fenced area reserved exclusively for families. You can also visit the Al Reem Biosphere Reserve which is Qatar's indigenous treasure. A small shop is also available near the beach.
