
Doha: In a press conference held tonight by senior health officials the four stages of Covid-19 vaccination campaign was explained.
The press conference was attended by Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, Co-Chair of the National Pandemic Preparedness Committee, Dr. Hamad Al Rumaihi, Director of the Health Protection and Communicable Diseases Control Department at MoPH and Dr Mariam Abdulmalik, Managing Director of PHCC.
They also said that all residents of Qatar will receive the free vaccination before the end of 2021 and more than 90,000 people have already registered on the website to receive the vaccination.
The first phase
From 9 December 2020 to 31 March 2021
Health care personnel most at risk of infection (workers in facilities designated for COVID-19 patients, intensive care units, etc)
Key personnel and first responders (ambulance teams, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, oil and gas sector, Hamad International Airport and Qatar Airways)
Long-term care and home care patients and people who are aged 70 and up
Adults with severe or multiple conditions are most at risk of developing COVID-19
All people aged between 50 to 69
More health care cadres and essential workers and 50% of teachers.
The second phase
From April 1 to June 30, 2021
All health care personnel not included in the first stage. The essential workers in the ministries and industries necessary for the continuation of work in society and are most at risk of exposure to or transmitting the disease.
Workers in the food, housekeeping, transportation, taxi drivers, hairdressers and salons sectors. And the rest of the teachers and school staff.
Persons with disease conditions that moderately increase their exposure to disease-related risks and not included in the first stage.
People aged 40 and above who are not included in the first phase
People in group accommodation facilities designated for persons with physical disabilities or psychological problems or in recovery phase and persons in detention facilities, prisons and similar facilities and those working in such facilities
Third phase
From June 1 to July 31, 2021
Youth and children (when the COVID-19 vaccine is allowed to be used for children).
Workers in industries essential to the functioning of society who are at increased risk of disease are who not included in the first and second stages
The fourth phase
From August 1 to October 31, 2021
And all the residents of the State of Qatar who did not receive the vaccination in the previous stages
