Doha: A CT scan machine that offers very fast imaging speed with low radiation doses is now available at the Al-Ahli Hospital for patients who mainly suffer from symptoms of heart attack or brain stroke. The CT scan machine considered as the fastest in imaging and available at a private facility for the first time in Qatar.
The machine is capable of scanning the entire affected part of the body in one cycle in less than one second. It helps to accurately and dynamically diagnose the problem in the perfusion of cerebral tissue or cardiac muscle and other vital organs.
The provision of this advanced machine aims at reducing the duration of radiography for a few seconds for patients who suffer from symptoms of heart attacks or brain stroke and several other conditions.
Head of Radiology Department at Al-Ahli Hospital, Dr. Thaer Abdullah, highlighted the excellent performance and modern technology of CT scan machine. He said the device is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology based on over the current decade research.
Dr. Abdullah said that it is a real revolution in the field of computed tomography and is the culmination of ten years of dynamic research and development of diagnostic devices. He explained that the device reads the entire heart in one cycle that does not exceed 0.275 seconds, giving 640 high-resolution sectional and very clear images.
Dr. Abdullah said that CT scan machine studies functions of the heart muscle during a full cycle from contraction to diastole, showing and extracting polar maps of the heart muscle that will clarify the vitality of the entire heart muscle parts accurately.
He said that the device depicts arteries of the heart with very high accuracy, as it shows the location and size of the blockage.
Dr. Abdullah said due to the high speed of the device, it can study arteries of the heart in less than one beat, allowing the study of patients suffering from a heart beat disorder or a contraction of the heart muscle.
He said that the device also features coronary arteriography for those who have high-density deposits of calcium in the arterial wall, or they have very small stents.
He noted that one of the most important features of the device is that it saves time, effort and cost compared to doing many alternative tests that require a longer time, in addition to reducing the time that contributes to reducing the radiation dose.
Dr. Abdullah said that the device conducts comprehensive examination of all parts of the body for a very short period of less than a second, such as an examination of the lungs and arteries, examination of the digestive system, the urinary system and the nervous system.
