
Birth certificate is the most important identification document for a new born baby. If your child is born in Qatar you need to get it registered for issuing birth certificate. Children born to non Qatari parents are not entitled to Qatari nationality. Expatriate parents need to register their child’s birth with their respective country’s embassy.
Procedures of issuing a birth certificate in Qatar
Book an appointment in advance
For issuing a birth certificate in Qatar you need to book an advance appointment by contacting registered birth registration offices in government and private hospitals from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. This has come into force since Sunday, April 26th, 2020 in an effort to continue the precautionary measures taken by Qatar to prevent and contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Documents Required For Birth Certificate
For issuing a birth certificate You have to submit the following identification papers:
1. New Qatari Births - Born in Qatar.
For Qatari Father and Qatari Mother.
- Original ID of husband and wife and copy of each.
- Copy of Marriage Certificate.
- Original Vaccination Card with Copy and Notification of Live Birth.
For Qatari Father and Non-Qatari Mother
- Original ID of husband and wife with copy of each.
- Original and copy of Wife’s passport (Residence Permit or Entry Visa for non-GCC citizens should be attached).
- Copy of Marriage Certificate.
- Marriage Approval by MoI for Non-GCC Citizens.
- Original Vaccination Card and it's Copy and Notification of Live Birth.
2. New Qatari Births - Born Abroad
- Original ID of husband and wife and xerox of each.
- Original and Copy of wife’s passport (Residence Permit or Entry Visa for non-GCC citizens should be attached).
- Copy of Marriage Certificate.
- Marriage Approval by MoI for Non-GCC Citizens.
- Original Child Birth Certificate (authenticated from country of birth).
- Exit-Entry Permit.
- Blood group.
3. New Non-Qatari Births - Born in Qatar
- Original valid passport of husband and wife and copy of each.
- Valid residence permit (or Entry Visa for non-residents).
- Original Vaccination Card and it's Copy with Notification of Live Birth.
- Copy of Marriage Certificate.
Procudure To Follow For Birth Certificate
To obtain birth certificate you need to follow the following procedure:
1. Book an appointment in advance, with the need to adhere to the specific time for each patient, and in the case of non-compliance with the time, the date set for the patient will be canceled, and in this case, they must obtain a new appointment.
2. Before the scheduled appointment fill out the blue form designated for notification and registration of newborns (attached).
3. Attach all mandatory documents, (a completed list of documents is attached).
4. Pay QR20 as a charge for the Birth Certificate.
