
Doha: The first direct flight from the Qatar to Saudi Arabia has taken off today at 2:05 PM at Hamad International Airport. Operated by Qatar Airways, flight QR 1164 Boeing 787-8 took off to Riyadh, King Khaled International Airport, Saudi Arabia.
On Twitter, Qatar Airways shared a video of the flight taking off from Hamad International Airport. This marks the first ever direct flight to Saudi Arabia after the blockade started in mid-2017.
Qatar Airways had also announced that the airline will resume flights to three Saudi Arabia Arabian cities.
Qatar Airways flights will fly daily to Riyadh and Dammam and four times a week to Jeddah.
Apart from this, Qatar Airways has also started rerouting many flights over the Saudi airspace after the Al-Ula agreement, which the Gulf leaders signed on January 5.
Likewise, Saudi Arabian airlines Saudia has also started operating flights from Riyadh and Jeddah to Doha, with 4 scheduled weekly flights from Riyadh and 3 weekly flights from Jeddah. The first flight from Riyadh will land in Doha today evening.
