Qatar announced additional measures today to ensure the population remains at low risk of being affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Her Excellency Lolwah bint Rashid Al-Khater, Spokesperson for the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, announced the latest preventive measures implemented by the State of Qatar to limit the spread of coronavirus.

Firstly, she mentioned that the government is proud of the citizens and residents for doing their part. There are already 35,000 people registered to join the fight against COVID-19, they will be allocated soon.

During the press conference, HE Al-Khater announced the discovery of 25 new cases of COVID-19 in Qatar. Most of the new registered cases are expatriates and five new cases are of Qatari citizens returning from overseas.

It was also announced that four patients who had contracted COVID-19 in Qatar have beat the virus. The four patients have recovered from the COVID-19 infection and are in good health, the officials confirmed. With these, the total number of COVID-19 recovery in Qatar has now reached 41.

MOPH QATAR CORONAVIRUS

New measures to be implemented:

- MOPH in cooperation with the Armed Forces established two temporary medical facilities that will provide basic medical attention to workers who have mild cases. Those two facilities have a total of 4645 beds.

- Banks will allow delayed loan payments

- As a part of state's plan to secure flow of imports to local market of food and goods, MOCI will sign contracts this week with 14 companies to raise the strategic stock of food and consumer goods.

- Airforce will be organizing flights to import masks, and medical equipment from China.

CORONAVIRUS TWITTER

- MOPH worked to establish three mobile units for examination in the industrial area along with six ambulances that roam the area for random examination to ensure that residents are free of the COVID-19.
