Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today recorded 224 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 209 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 119,822.

Out of the 224 new cases, 214 are community cases and 10 from travellers returning from abroad.

The Ministry also announced one new death - aged 50 - who was receiving the necessary medical care.

All new cases have been placed in isolation and are receiving necessary health care according to their health status.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 122,917  and there are 2886 active cases under treatment. So far, 209 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar.

Ministry conducted 5051 tests in the last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 714,183 tests. There are 36 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total patients in the hospital to 405.

Three patients were admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 59.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:

- Adherence to physical distancing.

- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate.

- Wearing a face mask.

- Washing hands regularly
