Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today recorded 228 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 237 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 120,540.

Out of the 228 new cases, 217 are community cases and 11 from travellers returning from abroad.

The Ministry also announced one new death - aged 49- who was receiving the necessary medical care.

All new cases have been placed in isolation and are receiving necessary health care according to their health status.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 123,604 and there are 2853 active cases under treatment. So far, 211 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar.

Ministry conducted 5468 tests in the last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 729,545 tests. There are 45 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total patients in the hospital to 427.

Five patients were admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 62.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:

- Adherence to physical distancing.

- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate.

- Wearing a face mask.

- Washing hands regularly
