Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today recorded 258 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 240 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 121,006.

Out of the 258 new cases, 248 are community cases and 10 from travellers returning from abroad.

The Ministry also announced one new death - aged 63 - who was receiving the necessary medical care.

All new cases have been placed in isolation and are receiving necessary health care according to their health status.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 124,175 and there are 2957 active cases under treatment. So far, 212 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar.

Ministry conducted 4950 tests in the last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 739,091tests. There are 36 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total patients in the hospital to 421.

Two patients were admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 64.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:

- Adherence to physical distancing.

- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate.

- Wearing a face mask.

- Washing hands regularly
