
Qatar Stock Exchange (QE) index surged 162.51 points, or 1.67 percent yesterday to close at 9,889.46 points, helped by strong buying interest from investors. The index had closed at 9,727 points on Wednesday. Qatar First Bank (QFB), United Development Company (UDC), and QG Medical Devices were among top gainers which rose 6.31 percent, 3.93 percent and 2.95 percent, respectively, according to Qatar Stock Exchange website. The value of shares traded increased to QR280.9m yesterday from QR279.8m on Wednesday, while the volume of shares traded was 128.1m. Indices of all sectors ended in the green zone yesterday.
QSE Total Return Index gained 1.67 percent to close at 19,012.16 points. QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index increased 1.45 percent to close at 4,051.17 points. QSE All Share Index up 1.68 percent to close at 3,058.79 points. Overall it was positive week for the benchmark index for the exchange as stocks witnessed a rising trend. QE index maintained an upward trend since Tuesday, after witnessing declines in the previous two trading sessions. On November 1, the first day of the week, the QE Index declined 0.5 percent to close at 9,640.1 from the previous close of 9691.
Among the top gainers, Qatar Cinema & Film Distribution Company gained 10 percent, while Qatar Electricity & Water Company was up 0.8 percent. Losses were led by the Real Estate and Insurance indices, which fell 3.7 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively. The next day on November 2, the QE Index declined marginally to close at 9,639.6. Among the top gainers, Mazaya Real Estate Development gained 6 percent, while Qatar Aluminium Manufacturing Company was up 3.8 percent. Losses were led by the Banks & Financial Services and Insurance indices, falling 0.4 percent each. November 3 marked the turnaround in the market as The QE Index rose 0.6 percent to close at 9,701.0. Gains were led by the Industrials and Real Estate indices, gaining 2.1 percent and 1.9 percent, respectively.
Top gainers were Qatar Cinema & Film Distribution Company and Aamal Company, rising 10 percent and 9.9 percent, respectively. Continuing the upward momentum, the QE Index rose 0.3 percent to close at 9,727 on November 4. Gains were led by the Consumer Goods & Services and Telecoms indices, gaining 0.9 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively. Top gainers were Qatar Cinema & Film Distribution Company and Dlala Brokerage & Investment Holding Company, rising 8.2 percent and 2.0 percent, respectively.
