
Yesterday, the Minister of Culture, H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, inaugurated the inaugural edition of Lusail University's Cultural Day, featuring the participation of 30 countries.
The involved nations showcased a variety of activities reflecting their customs, traditions, and cultural values. These ranged from presenting traditional costumes and theatrical performances to hosting cultural events that conveyed the cultural heritage and civilizational legacy of each country.
Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Culture, emphasized the Ministry's commitment to sponsoring Lusail University's first cultural day, aligning with its support for culture across diverse domains. He noted the attendance of several university officials and students who witnessed performances by students of various nationalities. Al Ali expressed the Ministry's eagerness to foster collaboration with different government agencies, underscoring its interest in cultural aspects and the goal of promoting them in wider societies.
Al Ali highlighted the Ministry's focus on youth and educational institutions in Qatar, citing events such as the University Poet competition that brings together talented students in poetry. Additionally, he mentioned the organization of seminar seasons.
Fatma Al Mesleh, Vice President for Student Affairs at Lusail University, affirmed the university's commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for students. Lusail University, with a student body comprising nearly 70 different nationalities, including Qatar Scholarship Programme students and local students, stands out for its cultural diversity.
Talela Al Kuwari, Director of Student Life at Lusail University, shared with Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the university distinguishes itself through its culturally diverse student body. She emphasized that the inaugural cultural day serves as an opportunity for students to express their cultural identity and foster communication among diverse backgrounds.
Lusail University's cultural day contributes to the vibrant cultural scene in Qatar, aiming to enhance students' awareness of different cultures, nurture their talents, and promote cultural and creative connections on regional and international scales in the Gulf and Arab context.
