Doha: As part of its activities on its social media accounts, the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, is holding a virtual exhibition entitled "Drawing the New Normal" in cooperation with the Philippines embassy in Qatar, under the auspices of the National Committee for Culture and Arts (NCAA).
The exhibition, which will last until December 31, displays 30 paintings by Filipino artists in Qatar, through which they presented their creative perceptions of the different visual interpretations of the challenges faced by humanity during the Corona Covid-19 pandemic, as the various works envisioned the triumph of positive energy and human ability through unity and resilience.
The participating artists said that their work aims to encourage the public by sending positive messages, especially for those negatively affected.
The artworks honoured the members of the White Army, whether in the Philippines or overseas, and their huge role in preventing the spread of the Coronavirus by being on the front lines of this challenge despite the risks.
The paintings reflected topics related to the social bonds of the medical staff, the importance of resistance and strength, and their concern for the safety of their families and the return to their homeland.
Katara has held several virtual exhibitions of Qatari and resident artists since the beginning of the Corona pandemic. Among them are "Clash of Cultures" by Hassan Talib Al-Silat, "The Land of the Good" by Ali Dasmal Al-Kuwari, and "The Result" by Fine-art artist Fatima Al-Nuaimi, “The Colors of the Desert” by a group of artists and "Women in Fashion" by the Indian artist Sohbi.
